Mood boosting maca turmeric tea

This week I'm going to focus on a few foods that improve your mood. Of course, each one helps many different aspects of your health, but my lens is pointed on mood boosting because , well, who doesn't need that a bit more these days!?

Let's start with Maca:

Maca is actually a Peruvian root vegetable that's known as the mother of hormone nourishers.  It has long been touted as an aphrodisiac and as a remedy to increase stamina and endurance. It can be used in males and females to boost fertility, energy and mood through supporting healthy hormone production! It’s also considered an adaptogen, a name given to a class of herbs, plants and natural substances that help the body naturally adapt to all kinds of stress, including low grade worry, a busy schedule, and illness.

You can find it in powdered form from health stores and online.

This morning I'm drinking a simple and favorite tea, which includes maca and turmeric! Turmeric is the rock star of the health world these days because of its potent anti-inflammatory actions. Be sure to grab my free Adaptogen & Superfood guide to know more about these and other nutritional rock stars!

Maca Infused Golden Milk tea

Makes 1 cup

  • 1 tsp Golden Milk mix (my fave brand right now is Gaia Herbs)

  • 1 tsp Maca

  • 1 tsp honey

  • 8 oz alternative milk of choice (it's delicious with coconut milk)

Directions:

  1. Add the alt milk, maca powder, Golden Milk to a small blender and process on high speed to combine.

  2. Transfer to a saucepan and warm over medium heat, stirring frequently. Heat until hot but not boiling.

  3. Add honey and stir to combine.

Note: If you have a milk frother, feel free to heat your milk that way, and then add in the rest and stir vigorously!
